Aloha peeps!
Hope this finds you all well and full of joy!
We have set a couple of days this month to share more specifically about the vision and mission of Big Island Faith Communities. We have intentionally waited on this so we could take some time to pray and learn( although there's still a lot to learn!) and be a part of our community and the communities surrounding Hilo. It’s been a process of observing, listening and allowing God's Spirit to lead us. We now feel it’s time to start sharing and asking people to prayerfully consider being a part of the Kingdom work He has called us to.
We are so excited to share about the vision God's shown us; to see communities (family) of faith develop, grow and make Kingdom impact throughout Hilo and East Hawai'i.... faithfully living out Christ’s mission. Why? Because lost people matter to God and we are all called to go all out for Christ’s mission. We desire, as God does, to make disciples who will share the light and love of Jesus in radical and unique ways in their communities. That means going and being a light in the dark places of our communities; light among light lights nothing. We are called to be a light in the darkness, sharing God’s love with those who don’t yet know Him, invite them to be a part of what God is doing, LISTEN to their stories, allow relationships to develop and model what it means to have a relationship with Christ.
So, where do we start? How about with food and conversation? These get togethers will be an opportunity to share our thoughts on the gathering and scattering, what a faith or missional community really is and what it means to be a part of one. If this sounds interesting to you, if God has been whispering to your heart that His story is BIGGER, then we would love to have you over.

Join us on either Friday 5-18 at 5pm( this is right before our weekly community prayer gathering so feel free to make plans to stay for that as well!) or Sunday 5-20 at 4:30pm. Potluck style meal, so bring some grub to share if you can and let us know if you can make it. If neither of these dates work for you, and you want to talk story with us, call or email and we can set something up.
We certainly don't have all the answers but look forward to wrestling through it all with you! Hope to see you there.
Until next time, peace to you and yours
Aloha, peeps!
We are so excited to share with you all what God has been doing recently!
At the bottom of this post, you will see a link to the spring 2012 newsletter and at the end of that newsletter, you will see that we have asked for prayerful consideration in regards to financial support for our mission here.
We believe in the work of missions, we support missions and as missionary church planters, we have a need for financial support. Our work here is supported entirely by God's people; individuals, families, churches and our Open Bible Standard Church denomination. We want to be clear that although God works, leads and directs as suits His purposes, our 'asking' is primarily meant for those outside of our local expression here. This is based on what we see modeled clearly in the book of 2 Corinthians in chapters 8-9 where the church gives to other saints in need or saints that are away (8:4, 9:12) for the sake of sharing the gospel.
With all that said, take this newsletter as you will; an update, a call to celebrate with us, a call to join our prayer and/or financial support team or any combination of those. We are thankful for all of you!

Aloha, peeps!
This post will be brief, because as most of you know, I fell and broke my wrist a few days ago. Obviously, typing is a challenge!

Now that we've been here almost 2 months, we found ourselves revisiting the importance of our church family connections and the values that drive what we do. We thought it might be helpful to share them again with you!
